"BACK TO SCHOOL-FOR CAREER ADVICE"

"BACK TO SCHOOL—FOR CAREER ADVICE"

To aid both recent and not-so-recent graduates in the tough

job market, universities around the country are offering

career counseling and job-search services. Almost 20% of

U.S. universities offer the services for their alumni, up

from 5% five years ago. For example, Kellogg School of

Management, part of Northwestern University, provides

counseling sessions, resume critiques, and mock interviews.

The school's job coaches help job seekers compile lists of

potential employers and aid in salary negotiations if an

offer is extended. The Marshall School at the University of

Southern California researches executive recruiters and

connects its grads to ones it identifies as top performers.
