'Uncommon' debates on TV

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 26 The prospect of high profile corporate honchos locking horns with social activists on contentious developmental issues gripping the nation could certainly be a recipe for high TRPs on prime time television.

NDTV has roped in Ms Rohini Nilekani to pitch industry stalwarts such as Mr Mukesh Ambani, Mr Anand Mahindra, Mr Sunil Mittal, Mr Rahul Bajaj, and Mr Habil Khorakhiwala against not-for-profit organisation leaders Dr R.K. Pachauri, Ms Medha Patkar, Ms Sunita Narain, Ms Aruna Roy on a new eight-week television show.

“Uncommon Ground’, which airs every Sunday night, plans to have the two sides debate threadbare the journey the country must take in sectors such as energy, food, healthcare, employment, land rights, financial inclusion, access to transport and sustainable development. With Ms Rohini Nilekani in the saddle to question, provoke and stimulate, the first episode this Sunday will have Mr Mukesh Ambani and Dr Pachauri debating energy solutions for the country. .
