Visva Bharati teacher who protested eve teasing beaten up

 

Santiniketan (WB), July, 17 (PTI) A teacher of Visva Bharati University was today severely beaten up by some youths when he protested eve teasing by them in the university campus last night, sending shockwaves among students and teachers in the dream abode of visionary Rabindranath Tagore.
Bishal Bhan, a teacher of the school of crafts in the august institution was severely thrashed by the unidentified men near his quarters when he protested the teasing of a woman employee of Rabindra Bhavan, university sources said.

Bhan was admitted to the university hospital.

Superintendent of Police, Birbhum, Laxhminarayan Meena said a case has been started and police raids were on to trace the attackers.

The attack took place barely a month after the manhandling of the Visva Bharati Registrar by activists of a pro-OBC reservation outfit in the campus during the visit of a UGC team. PTI
